The river has always been Wenzhou's working front door. In recent years, a series of small public projects has begun to make that edge feel more open, more connected and more distinctly local.
New walking routes link older streets with cultural venues and shaded places to pause. The changes are modest in scale, but together they create a continuous invitation to slow down and look outward.
At sunrise, residents cross paths with fishers, runners and families heading towards the market. By evening, the same spaces hold conversations, street food and the reflected lights of the city.
The work continues in sections, with each completed stretch adding another way for a neighbourhood to find its bearings along the Ou River.
